Why Tire Pressure Matters

The last thing you want to worry about is your vehicle’s ability to handle the road. It’s suggested to follow your car’s manual and the tire manufacturer’s recommendation of proper inflation to save you from an unfortunate circumstance. Under or over-inflated tires can create a very hazardous situation, particularly on wet pavement.

If you are driving on under-inflated tires, you’re causing them to work harder than is necessary. That creates excess friction and heat while wearing on the edges and sidewalls of the tires. It will end up costing you more in gas and early tire replacement. At the other end of the spectrum, over-inflated tires greatly reduce the tread’s ability to create traction with the road’s surface. You may find yourself skidding and losing control. The added wear on the tire’s center will also require early replacement.

Don’t put off your tire’s maintenance; your safety depends on understanding and maintaining proper air pressure. We’re here at Spirit Chrysler Dodge & Jeep in Swedesboro to answer your questions and assist you.
