The Importance of Adequate Brake Pads

When you are driving a vehicle, you are not simply moving from one place to another; you are hurtling through space on a heavy object with massive force. Control of the vehicle depends on steering and braking power.

The key safety aspect of driving is braking power. Your action to stop the massive moving object carrying you from one place to another depends on the application of hydraulic power to two brake pads that grip the rotor attached to each wheel.

When brakes are applied to a small area of the rotor, intense heat is generated. While rotors are made of steel, the brake pads must consist of a material that absorbs heat and does not grind the rotor, yet the material must also stand up to the friction generated when the brakes are applied. Eventually, the brake pads will wear down.

Visit Spirit Chrysler Dodge Jeep & Sprinter to have your brakes checked. Bad brakes produce tragic results.
